About three years before children reach school age they have a need to use number values in their thinking processes. They want to learn math, but most parents defeat that opportunity by coaching them to memorize a long list of numbers and times tables. That is not math. Math is an activity that is guided by a few simple rules. Learn the basic rules, and like playing games, you can do the millions of problems that might come along. (1.) The Seebacus Game Board is a two-sided, 81/2x11 laminated (spill proof) game board with easy to understand math games. The first side offers Seebacus Games, step by step directions that teach the order and value of the figures 0123456789. Then the basic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. (2.) The second side is fun for all ages. It teaches the rhyme and reason for Place Value, and goes on to teach extended math skills. Traditional instruction makes math almost impossible to learn. After about fifty years off doing the best I could with the way I was taught, I realized that math was wonderfully simple, and fun. Most notably, that our decimal scheme enables us to count on and on forever with only ten figures. That is amazing. For the past twenty five years, I have had a special interest in developing ways to overcome the obstacles that makes math unattractive to children. I am pleased to say that the best of my discoveries are presented in this single board game.
